I got the call from Elise on Tuesday, September 22 around 5:30pm.  It was time… and I needed to hurry home.  We packed up, said goodby to the kids and pulled away at 6:20pm.  We were heading to a new hospital for our fourth birth.  Not the hospital that’s around the corner.  The hospital that’s about 20 minutes… without traffic.  Of course the baby was ready to come out now, and not later.  Well, we hit traffic… not just a little…but pretty much all of it.  We were at a DEAD stop.  I proceeded to weave my way toward the side of the freeway while dialing 911…

Operator:  “911. what’s your emergency?”

Me: “Yes, my wife’s going into labor. We are stuck in traffic and we need another way to get to the hospital.”

Operator: “You can pull over to the side of the freeway, Sir, and I will have an ambulance come and assist you.”

Elise: “I’m not GOING into labor…I’m IN labor!!! AND I’M NOT HAVING THIS BABY IN AN AMBULANCE!!!!! Get off this freeway…the baby’s coming out!!! OOOOUUUUCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”

I hung up on 911 and got off the freeway.  With flashers on and horn blaring I felt like we were in a movie.  Between lights I went about 200 mph.  When we came to a red light…EVERY light was a red light… I would come to a screaching halt.  The cars we flew past, doing the 200, would then catch up to us and I would shake my fist at the air.  Anyway, we finally made it.  We were there…everything was going to be fine.  We got out of the car… it was smoking.  The valet says, “what’s wrong with your car?”  I scream, “WHEELCHAIR!”.  He trotts off.  I gather our things.  I come around to the passenger side to get Elise out.  I find her buckled over, squeezing her legs together and screaming.  The wheelchair-valet-guy casually strolls out the hospital entrance and heads in our direction.  Once again I scream, “HUSTLE!!!”.  I look at Elise who is fighting a losing battle with a baby that’s ready to come out, and she says, “Don’t be a jerk, John.”  She’s so polite…

Ok, so we make it into the hospital, where the kid pushing the wheelchair proceeds to stop and ask for directions.  Elise screams, “DO NOT STOP!”  We get into the elevator. We get to our floor.  Elise says, “Oh no, my water is going to break!  Ding! The elevator door opens… Skablush!   Nonchalant-Wheelchair-Valet-Guy has officially had his world turned upside down.  We rush out and run full speed down the hall… in the wrong direction.  “WE’RE HAVING A BABY!” I scream, to which the nurse screams back, “YOU’RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!”  Utterly-in-Shock-Nonchalant-Wheelchair-Valet-Guy makes a 3 point turn and races in the right direction.  Again I scream, “WE’RE HAVING A BABY!”, to which Elise screams, “SOMEBODY HELP ME…THE BABY’S HEAD IS OUT”, to which I begin to laugh… I wasn’t sure what else to do.  Valet guy, who at this point is unsure as to whether or not he has peed himself, slowly backs away and flees.

Shift Change: By shift change, I don’t mean that I am going to now take the story in a different direction, but that it was actually shift change for the nurses on the labor/delivery wing, which means there were double the nurses on the floor.  All of them came running at us, and I am pretty sure a few climbed out of the T-bar ceiling from the third floor.  All of them, and I mean the 20 or so that were there, participated in some way in the delivery of our daughter right there in the hallway.  I have never seen so many navy-blue clad nurses before in my life.  I stood with Elise and tried to keep her calm.  At this point Elise had passed out about 12 times and couldn’t stay conscious for longer then a few seconds.  However, the herd of nurses assured me that both Mom and baby where fine.  At some point I got lost in the stampede and found my daughter in one room and followed her and the trail (do i really need to explain) down the hall, make a right, then a left and into a room, to find that Elise had passed out again.

Ok so the rest is history!  What an adventure!  Never a dull moment in this house.  Well, enjoy this little video Elise and I put together and thanks for coming by to check it out.  Oh and if you are scared at this point to actually watch the little movie, don’t be.  During all of this my camera was hiding and way to scared to come out.  Later

Michael and Julie are family and this wedding was probably more fun than any wedding I have ever had the pleasure to attend.  If you want to find two people who are truly in love, look no further.  Guys, thanks for the opportunity to celebrate with you.  I had an incredible time!!  I had a difficult time sorting through my favorite shots for a sneak peak, so I gave up…and just put them all in.  Hope you enjoy them.  More to come!

I had the privilege to shoot the Decent Exposure Fashion Show this past Saturday July 11th and it was amazing!  The evening was organized by an amazing team of woman headed up by Jessica Rey with Rey Swimwear.  You would have thought you were attending a celebrity event, from the red carpet to the runway and everything in between.  The guests were treated to a musical performance with songs by Caitlin Crosby.  Decent Exposure’s stylist, Katelyn Rose with Suddenly Darling, was recently featured as girl of the week in Teen Vogue.  Guests couldn’t help but cheer as the teenage girls took the runway.  The theme of the evening was that you can “dress modestly but still look fabulous!”  All in all the evening was an incredible success and an absolute blast.  Not one of the guests left without a smile on their face.  More photos from the night can be seen in the client proofing section of our website This Moment Captured (password modesty) Check out some of the images below

Ok, so as mentioned, i would be adding another post just for the photobooth.  Tim & Zsuzsi wanted to add the photobooth at their wedding and it was way to fun.  People just kept coming back, always with something crazier (my wife was at the top of that list.)  There are way to many to add all the good ones, but I can at least throw a few (dozen) up.  However, all of the photobooth images will be available on the website’s client proofing section in their very own gallery.

If you were there and want to check out the fun, contact Tim & Zsuzsi and they can give you the password.  They will be up sometime over the next few days.  Here are some of our crazy favorites. (don’t forget to leave a comment at the end of the post…)

yum… newcastle

yes…that’s right… the one with the blood rushing to her brain is my wife.

Congrats guys! (they got married today)

…and our favorite for the night!

Tim & Zsuzsi

Tim and Zsuzsi, what can I say.  Their wedding rocked!  There were a ton of great shots to choose from, but here are just a few that we liked (if they view small, click on them for a larger view).  Keep your eyes pealed and check back soon for the photobooth post which will be up shortly.  Thanks again guys for letting us be a part of your day!

Sarah asked us to come out for a “trash that dress” shoot in the costa mesa/newport beach area.  We drove all over and found some great spots.  We started out super mellow and by the end of the shoot she was on the verge of jumping in Newport’s back bay.  I don’t blame her for not jumping.  It looked pretty scary.  Here are a few of the good ones.

John Luke finally gave me permission to post this up on our blog.  Its youtube quality and I have HD quality copies for anyone who want to contribute to John Luke’s College Funds.  Enjoy!!!

Dan & April

We just finished an engagement shoot with the amazing Dan & April.  They are getting married in June and we are super stoked to be a part.  We had so much fun down in Laguna Beach with them and found so many awesome spots to capture some of the fun.  They were such good sports, even when we had them standing in the middle of the road to get a few.  The day finished off perfectly when we (hiked) walked back up about 3000 stairs (only slighly exagerated) from the beach, after just watching a school of dolfin at sunset, which was amazing, and enjoyed a margarita and some nachos and the Cayote Grill… yum

All in all, we had a blast… And it was really hard to narrow down the good ones, so here are a bunch that we really liked.

Your Attention Please:  For all those who thought we were having a boy… (buzzer noise) thanks for playing.

On Sunday morning, April 13th at 6:48am we welcomed Sofia Michelle into the world.  She was 6lbs 4oz (sopping wet) and 18 1/2 inches long.  Elise did absolutely amazing and is recovering quickly.  Our other two are a little confused about this third child that is no longer in mommy’s belly, isn’t going back in mommy’s belly, and who doesn’t eat food like we do.  ”No JohnPaul, she’s not going back inside mommy…”  “Maggie, stop sticking your finger in her eye…”  “No, she doesn’t want some of your M&M’s…”  “Maggie, stop sticking your finger in her eye…”  This morning, both Maggie and JP decided they were going to share their Thomas the Tank Engine trains (all of them) with Sofia.  They just kept coming and coming and Sofia took it like a champ.

Anyway, we are blessed to have her and she smiled (not really) for the camera a few times.  So check her out! (all these pictures were taken only a few minutes after she was born.)

WARNING: She looks a little like an old man and has more wrinkles then my grampa!!!

WARNING: If you make any comments about how she looks like an old man I’ll mail you a dirty diaper.

WARNING: Lot’s of naked baby ahead!!!!

Ok, so most of you already know, but Elise is due in about 5 days and she finally felt up to taking a few shots of #3.  We don’t know if its a boy or a girl yet so for now he or she’s #3.  We got a few good ones and had some fun with them.  Take a look and tell us what you think… Boy… or… Girl?
