The day before we had our 4th child, Giuliana Rose, we snuck out of the house and headed to Newport Beach’s back bay. For any of you who have ever had the pleasure of experiencing the back bay, you know our pain. The back bay, especially when its low tide, is so stinky and bug infested it will make a pregnant woman go into labor (which it actually did in our case). Oh Yes! Within hours we were racing to the hospital, and when I say racing… well if you haven’t read that post (click here), you need to. It was an adventure and then some. Anyway, we attribute that adventure to the one we had the night before at, yes you guessed it, the back bay. We had been planning on some prego pics for weeks, but with 3 little ones at home… the best laid plans of mice and blah blah blah. We finally did it and set our sites for the Newport Beach Back Bay (which from a distance…and during the day… and during high tide… is quite breathe taking and fun to explore). We parked the car and dredged through reeds, muck, and critters…and actually had some fun.
In between shots, we could be seen jumping up and down while frantically waving away the swarms of flying-prehistoric-size insects. It was as though they were laughing at the fact that we had practially submerged ourselves in “bug-spay” as they kamakazi-dived into our eyes and ears and mouth and pretty much any other opening they could find. Ok, ok, ok a little too graphic I guess, but i’m just trying to paint the picture that it was a minor miracle that we made it out alive. So, without further adoooooo My beautiful, amazing wife, fellow adventurer, and mother of our four incredible kiddos. Presenting….. Elise Marie! WOOHOO!!!!
